TO PRUNE YOUR ROSES AT ROSEBANK FARMS
The public is invited to attend a Rose Pruning Seminar on
Saturday, February 23 at Rosebank Farms on Johns Island.

Hiers is the Director of Edisto Memorial Rose Garden in

The seminar begins at 10 a.m. Following the seminar
participants will be able to practice what they have learned

to maximize beauty from these most beautiful of flowers.
Both demonstrations are free.
At noon, enjoy Sidi’s BBQ and farm fresh vegetables, served
with wine, for only $10.
Guests are invited at any time to wander the grounds and
enjoy the beauty of more than 400 roses grown in several
beds. Following the 1:30 demonstration, guests may also
enjoy complimentary wine while they take a guided tour of
the gardens which feature both modern and old roses. Four
modern varieties are featured including hybrid teas,
floribundas, grandifloras, and shrubs. Varieties of old
roses include Chinas, Noisettes, teas, polyanthas, musk, and
shrubs.
Potted roses will be available for sale.
In addition to a day celebrating roses, artwork created by
local artists will be available for viewing and for sale.
The Johns Island Museum, a 19th century freedman’s
schoolhouse, will also intrigue visitors with local history
dating back to the days when Indians inhabited Johns Island.
And don’t forget to visit the barnyard animals – they never
disappoint and are always entertaining!
